Summary: This place is everything I could've asked for and MORE. I was looking for somewhere safe and affordable for my children and I. This was our first trip to Mexico and this place couldn't have been more perfect. From the start Vitalie was amazing to work with. He answered each of my many questions. When we arrived I was pleasantly surprised. The unit is very modern and has pretty much everything you need. Its very close to the family pool and the wellness center. The Bistro at the wellness center has some great food. Only two small issues 1. Apparently we arrived during the slow season so the menu was VERY limited. 2. They don't use the current exchange rate. Upon my arrival the exchange rate was 19 pesos per USD the bistro used 15 pesos per USD. That was annoying as I feel it made the food overpriced. As a guest you have access to the hotels and their pools and there is a trolley that will transport you. It was a little challenging since we arrived during slow season so the trolley stopped running at 3:00PM which really limited our time at the resorts. Luckily I met some nice people at the pool that made me aware of that otherwise we would've been stranded with a cab as our only option back. The other slight bummer is the resort doesn't accept money so your only option for purchasing food is to buy the food package which was $28 per person for a buffet lunch or $60 per person to eat all day (which isn't a good option since the trolley stops so early). Honestly those are my only complaints. I would definitely recommend a car however we were able to do a lot once we got the timing down for the shuttle. There is a small water park for kids at one of the hotels....you have to get there early to get a chair as many of the resorts guests go out first thing in the AM and claim chairs. There are also a number of really nice pools throughout the resorts. The property manager Alegria was THE GREATEST. She took us to Walmart in Playa del Carmen, took us to the Ruins and Pyramids, showed us around town in Akumal, went to the grocery store with us and even came and took us to the clinic when my son got a little sick. It was so great to have someone show us around that spoke both perfect English and Spanish. Overall we had an AMAZING time and we are already planning our return. I travel a lot and am EXTREMELY picky but would have NO PROBLEM recommending Vitalie's place!!
